We have been learning about how to be entrepreneurs.  Students have created their business goal and are are learning about how to do market research and how to price their product.  This weekend, they are creating 4 questions to ask potential customers.  There are examples of questions in their booklets.  Also, they are trying to settle on a price for their product.

The following is how to find out the cost of the product to you:

Total cost of your materials, including tax  divided by the number of products you can make.

Example:

My materials cost $25 in total.  I am able to make 15 of my items.
25 ÷ 15 = 1.66666 which is $1.67

Showing our understanding of the "Emoji Pillow" Problem.

Well, what a crazy week of weather we have had.  Now that we are finally back to something that looks like normal, we have decided on dates for presenting our Science Fair projects.  They are as follows:

February 20: Jasmine/Gurleen, Joel, Taj, Friyana, Priya, Ana

February 21: Jaspreet, Halina, Sahil, Anmol, Hillary/Perneet, Nikolei/Claudea, Vizon, Mohammad

February 22: Wasif/Jaspaul, Karan/Suhail, Mackenzie, Parm/Jayden, Ann-Joelle, Jovan/Dylan

February 27: Gurjaap, Jacob

Also, for ADST (Applied Design, Skills and Technology) we will be creating emoji pillows.  In order for us to do that, we need to buy fabric.  Each emoji pillow will be 30 cm.  in diameter and we need fabric for 30 students.  Three groups set off to find the best fabric for the assignment.

Group one finds a soft micro-fleece.  The fabric will not stretch or fray.  It is $8.99 per meter and 58 inches wide.

Group two finds a yellow broad cloth (cotton, polyester blend).  It is $2.99 per meter and 44 inches wide.

Group three finds a soft flannelette.  It will not stretch but may fray if mishandled.  It is $4.99 per meter and 42 inches wide.

Choose one of the fabrics and calculate how many meters of fabric is needed for 30 students.  How much is the total cost without tax? With tax? Also, what will the cost per pillow be?

Reminders:
- Monday is Family Day
- Gym on Tuesday
- Math Emoji question on Tuesday
- Vocabulary for non-fiction reading on Tuesday
- Reading Journal for Thursday
