Wednesday, March 13

We've been working on researching and building earthquake resistant buildings.

Here is a reminder of the criteria.

Earthquake Resistant Building
(to be done either individually, pairs or threes)

Your project consists of 2 parts:

Part 1 (in paragraphs):
-       Research what makes buildings earthquake resistant.  Share examples of famous buildings that have these characteristics.
-       Explain which characteristic you incorporated into your building to make it earthquake resistant.

Part 2 (the model)
-       Build a model according to the specifications set out in the handout given to you.  The lego person needs to survive the shaking on the classroom’s shaker table in order to be considered a success.  You choose where to position the person.  I choose which direction the person faces.  Please review the guidelines in the handout given to you. Adults can help you with any cutting or sharp objects.  You should be doing the building yourself or with your group. This is not a project for your family.

Due to date to share your findings and to test your structure: April 1st.
