Friday, October 26

In Science, Division 3 and 4 learned about evolution by having a paper airplane challenge.  The planes that fulfilled the criteria went onto survival and the ones who did not became extinct.  The students whose planes went extinct had to learn from those who survived to create a newly evolved airplane using the characteristics for survival present in those alive. We also changed the environment and some species were provided with wind outdoors while others did not.  

The question for students to reflect on is:

How was evolution seen in the paper airplanes.  Use the words from the definition from evolution (use your notes or use the video here).  Describe the surviving airplanes characteristics/traits versus the extinct species.  What happens in nature for evolution to occur?  Give examples of animals that exist now or existed in the past.  Please explain in your own words.

  • dress for the weather for Monday - we will be walking in the neighbourhood for WE Scare Hunger
  • bring back all notices, especially the walking in the neighbourhood one
