We have been learning about the power of self assessment and giving constructive feedback.  We watched and discussed the following video and the impact that revising our work has on our learning.


Students have been peer editing their 5 paragraph essays and will revise them this weekend and bring in their new drafts for Monday.

Today, we finished writing our 5 paragraph essay.  It is due tomorrow along with the self and peer assessments, rough copy and planning pages.

We have begun a unit on effective speech writing and delivery.  Today we talked about important speeches in history.  We watched the beginnings of the following clips and discussed how words can be so important and can change history. We also watched a clip of Hitler addressing a crowd which is not posted here.

This has been an exciting week.  The grade 7 students went to Grouse Mountain and participated in various activities such as teambuilding, sliding, and snowshoeing.




We have also been working on learning to write a 5 paragraph essay.  Everyone has planned their paragraph and written the introductory and concluding paragraph.  They also wrote the three paragraphs in the body of the essay.  They are learning to use transition words effectively.  For Monday, students are expected to bring the rough copies of all of their paragraphs and the peer assessment sheet to school.

Today, we practised writing sentences with an "ing" opener.  We also learned about Pop Art and about Andy Warhol.  Here is his famous painting of Campbell's soup cans.




We helped our buddies with goal setting in FreshGrade.  We also learned about the timeline of life on Earth.
